\u201cWinter is coming, we know what\u2019s coming with it. We-\u201c Jon! Don\u2019t be so dramatic. Please! Just because there are a lot of scary things going on in Westeros, that does not mean it\u2019s the same here. I know grey skies and freezing cold days are demotivating sometimes, especially if you have to get out of your warm bed\u2026 But everything has a good side to it and I\u2019m here to remind you of all the beautiful things to do in the upcoming autumn and winter days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m sure you somehow already have heard the word \u201chygge\u201d. Due to the hype in films, books, and social media, that\u2019s not surprising. And it’s even less surprising that this hype was created because the Danish concept of hygge is the perfect solution for cloudy days. Imagine Jon Snow sitting in a warmly lit room with a mug of hot chocolate, talking about cookies while watching the snowflakes gently covering the trees outside. Okay, I admit, that\u2019s a bit much, but you get the sense of it, don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hygge is about peacefulness, about getting away from the daily rush and relaxing, together with close friends, family, or just by yourself. It asks you to take things slow. Not just in winter, of course, hygge is for every season! But grey-coloured skies and freezing toes invite us to get warm and cosy. Now that you know what exactly hygge is, we get to the ace up my sleeve: I\u2019m not just going to tell you about a cuddled-up Jon Snow. I have some tips for you to create a \u201chyggelig\u201d mood at THE FIZZ!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even if the sun seems very shy in the colder months, going on a walk and catching some light is really good for you. In every way! It improves your mood and gets your circulation going. I promise if you\u2019re brave enough to face the cold, you\u2019ll feel much warmer if you get back inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To fit the atmosphere in your room, you could decorate it with some lights. Candles are not allowed in the community areas and for the sake of safety, I wouldn\u2019t recommend them for your apartment either. But I promise that fairy lights make for a great and cosy look and light up your room without being too bright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what\u2019s the best thing to do now? Of course, have a hot chocolate and some cookies! Or maybe coffee is more of your thing, or tea or\u2026 honestly, it doesn\u2019t matter. Get yourself a warm drink, and a snack that you enjoy, and take a break from the daily routine. You could ask around THE FIZZ community if someone wants to join you! Having a cosy afternoon or evening together creates not just physical but (I\u2019m sorry it\u2019s gonna be a bit cheesy) also emotional warmth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That sounds like the perfect plan to me but maybe I haven\u2019t convinced you. No worries, I\u2019m prepared. What about a campfire? Meet up at a local campfire station, bring some drinks and enjoy the warmth of a crackling fire. Talk with friends or meet new people and wait for the stars to show up while the flames keep you warm on the outside and a hot drink from within.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, you could also get your friends and neighbours, peacefully conquer the community kitchen, and bake together! Self-made cookies are the best ones! They\u2019re really tasty and you get to enjoy the great smell, as well as everyone else in your THE FIZZ house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can ask your House Manager to help you organise such an event, they can help you to keep track of what you\u2019re gonna need, to find the right day and to make sure that everyone interested can join you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now you know how to get hyggelig and bring a lot of cosiness to THE FIZZ this winter. I will get myself a cup of tea and a fluffy blanket and wish you some wonderful hygge-moments!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
